Motorized Mountain Bike

This is my Schwinn mountain bike with an 80cc engine installed.

I bought the ZB BLACK SLANT 80CC MOPED BICYCLE MOTOR ENGINE KIT on E-Bay for $124.00. It was a challenge to install but in the end it goes like a bat out of hell and will negotiate even the steepest hills with minimal pedaling. It gets up to about 35mph on level pavement at better than 100 mpg. I can't wait to take it out on a trip.

This is what it looked like before I mounted the 50 cal ammo can on the back. The can locks up secure with the cable lock and holds more stuff than the soft bag.

That's my youngest son Tim's Puch Maxi moped in the back. He's tricking it out. Cris wants to either motorize his bike or get a cheapie mountain bike to put one on. We're all going to go on a trip in the future.
This is a close up of the engine mounted on the bike.

This is the latest picture of the bike with the ammo can on the back painted.Motorized Mountain BikeBy the way, that's a 53 chev in the background.

I get a lot of stares from kids, and nods of approval from people I pass by. Old fellows walk over to admire it and reminisce about similar setups they have had in the past. I've had a biker on a hog check it over and give a thumbs up. There isn't another one quite like it all decked out in the area so it does get attention.

I calibrated my spedometer and clocked in at 24.5 mph on flat ground, 18.5 mph unassisted up a moderate hill, and 8.5 mph unassisted up a fairly steep hill. I have to pedal lightly in a mid range up a very steep grade to maintain 8mph.
